Policies & Fees
To schedule an initial appointment, you may contact me by phone call or text at (415) 967-3447 (don’t send me a group text, it won’t come through – a limitation of Google Voice) or via the Contact Form at the bottom of this page.
Fees & Length of Sessions
You will be expected to pay for each session at the time it is held or, if you prefer, you may pay in advance. Please contact me to discuss fees.
I recommend an initial couples counseling session of 80 minutes. Subsequent sessions are typically 60 minutes for couples, but you may choose to continue with 80 minute sessions if you wish.
Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes.
My goal, I imagine, is the same as yours – to get you to a place you no longer need my services as soon as possible!
Reduced Fee/Referrals if I am full
Do not hesitate to reach out to me. If I can provide reduced fee services I will. Also, I offer consultation to a number of skilled therapists at all fee levels. I am happy to introduce you to therapists I believe in if I have no space in my own schedule. I am an active member of the psychotherapy/couples counseling community in San Francisco and as a result, even if I cannot make space for you in my schedule I will do my best to direct you to a qualified and effective therapist who may be able to help.
I realize it is really hard to reach out for assistance, so if you call, fill out my contact form or email I will get back to you. Feel free to poke me again and remind me of my tardiness/my commitment to respond per these words!
Cash or check for the first session. Cash, check, debit cards and credit cards accepted for subsequent sessions. It is not ethical to accept payment in a year long supply of strawberry rhubarb pie, so unfortunately for me that option is off the table.
If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, you are required to provide 48 hour advance notice. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full session. That said if you have a cold or flu please stay home and I will be more than happy to let the late cancelation fee slide!
Legal and ethical responsibilities require that private sessions remain confidential. Therefore, no information will be released to another professional or agency without your written consent. Exceptions will be made only if you endanger, or may endanger, yourself or others, and/or in the case of child abuse or elder abuse. In these cases the law requires your therapist to share certain information with specific outside parties.
I am available by telephone should a situation arise that cannot wait until your next scheduled appointment. In such cases, please leave a message on my voicemail indicating the nature of the situation, and I will return your call as soon as possible. If you are experiencing an emergency and need immediate assistance, please call 911.
